EXPLORING THE CAUSE FOR THE INEFFECTIVENESS OF DISCIPLESHIP MAKING IN MOKOPANE GOSPEL BELIEVERS CHURCH

Abstract

Biblical Discipleship involves the leadership of the church in training young ones in the church to prepare to take over as leaders and be able to execute duty. An effective discipleship programme will ensure that there is always availability of young leaders who are ready to take the ministry to another level. Discipleship is therefore an important tool to church growth and must be an on-going process in the church. When and who to. We have a rich and deep motivation to discipleship—the grace and love of the work of the Cross. [Geoffrey Bingham, 1978:7]

 That makes the discipleship demands appear so much simpler, even more reasonable.

 Discipleship means adherence to Christ, and because Christ is the object of that adherence, it must take the form of discipleship [Bonheoffer, 1958:63]

 The church’s aim and desire are to understand the ways in which the young generation does things, how they live, think, and feel. Any understanding of what discipleship of Jesus is and involves must surely take its lead from the discipleship to which he actually called followers during his life and ministry. [Dunn, 2003:2]

 Members want to learn from each other in the church, but the question is, how will the church meet their needs and reach out? to them with effectiveness by influencing them with   the gospel of our Lord JESUS Christ. If we understand that other disciples could attach themselves to a teacher, help to If we support him and remain loyal to the point they desire, then we have a fair picture of most master-disciple groups. [Geoffrey Bingham, 1978:4]

The church leadership holds a cardinal role in upbringing the young ones in the faith, to keep the truth of the true gospel. This paper will be guided by the great commission which our Lord Jesus Christ give to His disciples and, through them, to His followers in every generation to ‘’go in to the entire word and make disciples of all nations... Be ready for unexpected twists and turns, but always remind the group that the aim of the study is to discover how to follow Jesus more faithfully. Talking is not enough. [Henri J.M.Nouwen, 2011:10].’’[Matthew 28:18].Certainly, the young generation today and tomorrow should be included in the great commission of Jesus Christ.
