EFFECTS OF SMOKING ON HEALTH AMONG ADULTS IN HODAN DISTRICT MOGADISHU-SOMALIA
Abstract
Background
of the study: smoking is one of the world’s
largest health problems. It has been a
major health problem for many decades. For the entire 20th century it is
estimated that around 100 million people died prematurely because of smoking,
most of them in rich countries. The health burden of smoking is now shifting
from high-income to low-to-middle income countries.
Methodology:
The target
populations of the study was100 those who were adult smokers.
The study design used
descriptive and also cross-sectional study, sample size was
While sampling techniques used simple random sampling whereas
questionnaire used
as data collection tool
while the SPSS used as data analyzer.
Results
of the study:
according to the Socio-demographic factors related to the Effects of smoking on
health among adults like Age 25(31.2%) of respondents were aged between 31-40
years, while 22(27.5%) were aged between 21-30 years, whereas 20(25.0%) were
aged between15-20 and the smallest 13(16.2%) were above 41 According to the
marital status the majority 45(56.2%) of respondents were single followed by
35(43.8%) were married.
Conclusion
According to the
physical effects of smoking the majority of respondents were effected by lung
disease, flowed by others were effected by heart disease while the smallest
were effected by stroke, while the majority of participants were Agreed that
Smoking can cause lung disease by damaging your airways.

which recommended after data analyzed and concluded

awareness about the effects of smoking much more into the community in order to
maximize for the knowledge about thisproblem.
